I’m Baris Demirci.

Starting as an electrician when I was 16, I've first come in touch with 'computer programming' towards the end of my apprenticeship. Programming smaller Smart-Home Servers with 'Programmable Logic Controllers' (in German: SPS) has ignited my excitement for building logic.

Soon enough I've started my studies at FHNW to get my Bachelor Degree in Computer Science. From the beginning I was fascinated by the most basic principles of programming such as variables, methods and classes when learning Java. Most of what I've learned, I've teached myself at home building things I found interesting, while I learned new principles at university. The thing I like the most is, that you can create anything you want. You don't like the calculator app on your pc? Just build your own. You don't like the calendar app on your phone? Just build your own. You don't like this scheduling website? Just build your own.

After successfully graduating, I was able to get a first job as a Junior Software Engineer at Adnovum AG, based in Zurich. During my 5 years, I've come more in touch with enterprise application development and gained lots of experience as a full-stack engineer.

As of today, I've also built several tools for personal use. Being able to work on my “own“ has been a fun experience for me and with this page and portfolio, I want to further tap in to the realm of “independence“.
